Follow Stuart Conrad as he writes about the beauty of the outdoors, his adventures in athletics, and why it doesn’t always have to be about ‘business’.
Learning to rest is vitally important when creating a meaningful and healthy life. In the midst of a busy career, learning how to strategically implement periods of rest, leisure, and mind-relaxation is perhaps one of the most important things that so few seem to master. But Stuart Conrad is aware of the necessity of strategic implementation, and he applies this to even his acts of leisure.
Stuart is a seasoned professional in telecommunications and finance, with experience working on Wall Street, starting and managing his own advisory company, and serving in the Chief White House Liaison Branch under President George H. W. Bush. Clearly, his career is vast and extensive, but Stuart didn’t rise to the top on a work ethic of all work and no play.
Stuart Conrad is happily married to his beautiful wife, Margaret, and are proud parents of 15-year old triplets – two boys and one girl, who are already following in their father’s footsteps by their love of athletics. One of Stuart’s favorite pastimes is golf. Now, if you’re not surprised by the fact that a successful man is confessing his enjoyment of golf, fair enough. But the love of the game runs deeper underneath a seemingly superficial enjoyment of spending some time outdoors and away from work.
For Stuart, golf is a way to disconnect from the busy worries of modern America and return to a more meditative state. It also serves as a way for him to spend time in community with a group of close friends. Here, he can catch up with their lives, engage in thoughtful conversation, and simply shoot the breeze.
In addition to his love of golf, he is also an avid skier. While skiing serves as a way to engage in something that helps to channel his love for competition, his main attraction to the activity is because it’s family-oriented. For Stuart, the driving factor behind time outside of work is fellowship. He loves spending time with his family, unplugged from the busy digital world. But his time away from work isn’t completely void of his strategic and competitive personality – he has lists of every skiing trip he has ever taken that outlines in detail what worked and what didn’t work about the trip. Sure, it may sound a bit out of the ordinary to many, but it’s precisely that mindset that has rocketed Stuart Conrad to be a leader of the pack in both finance, telecommunications, and entrepreneurship.
