When you imagine playing golf, you might only envision a few basic items to make up the gear you take out to the course: probably, your 14 clubs, some balls, and tees. Extra equipment, however, can make playing the sport even more enjoyable! The following items are some accessories you may not have realized you needed, but they’re sure to improve your experience.
Brush for Your Clubs
A small brush for your clubs might not seem like much, but it can be a lifesaver when you’re out on the course. When your clubs are dirty, you’re less likely to get clean contact with the ball, or allow the grooves on the club to act as designed. Avoid this by buying handy golf brush. Most of the time they’re relatively inexpensive. Some of them even come equipped with steel edge you can use to clean your irons. As an added bonus, you can also use the tool to clean your cleats. Toss it in your bag and you’ll be good to go!
New Grips
When was the last time you replaced your golf club grips? If the answer is more than a year ago, it’s time for a change. Old or worn grips can affect the way you hold your club. Regripping your own club is not as difficult as you may imagine. A new grip will only cost a few dollars, plus a few dollars more to have it installed, but it may make a big difference in you game! You might feel like you have a new, lighter golf club that’s easier to handle and fits better in your hands.
Waterproof Gear
Waterproof gear is another important piece of equipment you should have. Sure, you can try and plan your games on nice days, but inevitably you’re going to be stuck in the rain at some point. An all-weather jacket will keep you warm and dry, no matter what the weather. Choose one that is lightweight enough to always carry with you. You can also purchase rain gloves that ensure a good grip even in the worst of conditions. And, don’t forget the golf umbrella.
First Aid Kit
A first-aid kit is something few golfers carry with them. Although accidents rarely occur, it’s always a good thing to have on hand. Consider including bandaids for blisters or scratches, cloth wraps for any twisted ankles or sore joints, and ibuprofen or other pain relieving pills. Sunscreen and some sort of sun protecting lip gloss is also a must.
Marking Pens
A waterproof pen of some sort is also a must for marking your ball. While you are at it, every bag should have a pencil hidden away for that day when you are out on the course and realize there was not a pencil on the cart. If you are really ambitious, you might want to pick up a small plastic device that helps you draw straight lines on your golf ball with your marking pens to aid lining up your putts.
Miscellaneous items
Every golfer will have their utility pocket in their bag which will include tees, both long and short, ball markers for the green, divot repair tools, extra golf gloves, etc.
